The Outreach and Engagement Ministry provides opportunities for the Christ Central family to engage the world with the renewed dignity that comes from Christ. We do this by partnering with local and global ministries to fulfill their missions, which free people to enjoy God, hear His truth and love one another well. Through serving together, giving towards financial needs, praying for and learning from our partners and the communities they serve, we grow in diverse community that can flourish together.

Part of Christ Central Church's vision for outreach and engagement is to support the efforts of our members to engage in growing relationships in the Charlotte region with local nonprofits or to serve in missions overseas. If you are a member of Christ Central or a local nonprofit with long term volunteers or staff from Christ Central, you may request a grant of up to $500 annually to be used for specific purposes that fit our Outreach and Engagement Mission and Guiding Principles and our Goals. Please read that document first to see if your request is a good match and then fill out this one time grant request form. A member of our Outreach and Engagement team will respond within 30-60 days.

In order to determine these Guiding Principles, the Mission and the Goals, the Outreach and Engagement team of Christ Central went through a year long process in 2023 to better align Christ Central’s outreach and engagement efforts with the church’s mission. We went through a three step design flow process to Discern, Decide and Direct the church’s efforts in this area. This process included prayer; liturgical and scripture readings; readings and discussions on best practices; a SWOT analysis to determine Christ Central’s strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats; interviews with community engagement leaders at churches similar to Christ Central, a survey of our congregation, budgeting with Outreach and Engagement team members, and input from the Session.

To learn more or to join our local engagement and global missions efforts, please contact any member of the Outreach and Engagement team or Angel Rutledge, who serves in leading the team. We are always looking for more people to join us with their time, talents and treasures!

Heart Math Tutoring

Join an awesome group of Christ Central Church volunteers who donate 30 minutes or 1 hour / week (October – May) to tutor CMS elementary school students in math. Heart Math Tutoring provides training, on-site support and a fun, volunteer friendly curriculum. You don’t have to be a math person to be a tutor! You will work 1:1 with the same student(s) throughout the year, building a relationship and supporting their growth and confidence in math. Virtual and in-person options are available. If you’d like to focus your efforts on 28205 with us, consider tutoring at Merry Oaks Elementary, right across the street from church. Reach out to Rebecca Presnell for more details on how to sign up or learn more here.
